JAZZY JEWELRY

Why go to the store? How about learning to make your own earrings, pins, necklaces, and bracelets? Students will learn design and construction using a variety of materials from wire to beads, fiber to clay and then make pieces for friends, loved ones, and themselves.

MASTERFUL MODEL BUILDING

Would you like to build a building that you can hold in your hand? Explore the world of architecture and architects. Design and build an architectural model using recycled household materials. Building models encourages imaginative thinking and creativity while also teaching about materials and construction, developing problem solving techniques and improving hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

SEW ON & SEW FORTH

Needles and thread, yarn and cloth, imagine what you can do with a few skills and a lot of imagination.  Students will learn the basics of sewing and an exciting variety of other ways to work with fiber as they construct clothing pieces, bags, pillows and all sorts of wearable art.

UPCYCLING

Don’t throw it away, learn to take discards and turn them into art.  This workshop will include learning how to turn old clothes and accessories into wearable art. In addition, the workshop explores how the many empty boxes, bottles and containers that are tossed out each year can be made into fun and useful items.  Don’t let castoffs go to waste when you can upcycle (even better than recycling) them into something fashion fantastic.

WOODWORKING

Learn to draw, design, saw, build, and paint all kinds of fun and exciting projects in wood! Students will use the tools of the shop to construct a variety of projects. All students will work cooperatively and learn to safely handle and use the “tools of the trade” including saws, hammers, files, glue, screwdrivers, and more.
