ADVANCED PHOTOGRAPHY

This workshop will teach students the more advanced aspects of shooting and manipulating photos. They will brush up on skills like using the cameras, color and composition, and move into more advanced tools such as editing photos, and retouching. They will learn how to bring photos into a computer editing program. Students are encouraged to bring their own digital cameras from home.  Some cameras will also be available for use during class.

BEGINNING PHOTOGRAPHY

Capture a moment in time! This workshop teaches students how to use a digital camera and see the world differently through the lens with an emphasis on color and subjects, as well as light and composition. Students will learn how to edit and upload their own photos to a computer. Students are encouraged to bring their own digital cameras from home.  Some cameras will also be available for use during class.

FROM BROADCAST TO PODCAST

What could be more fun than creating your own radio show?  Learning how to podcast your show online for friends and family to download and enjoy. In this class, students learn the basics of producing a radio show.  Working as a class, students first create the content which can include stories, poems, interviews, newscasts, and/or short plays accompanied by music and sound effects.  Students next learn the techniques necessary to record, edit and create a podcast which will be posted online.

STOP MOTION ANIMATION

Learn to make your own films in this exciting new workshop on stop motion animation.
Students will learn the basics of animation while also learning the technology involved with making a film. After designing and building their own characters they will animate them by creating short films. Students will work alone and in groups to provide the support they need to become their own directors!

WRITE ON!

In this hands-on, participatory workshop everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts, ideas, and dreams via the ultimate form of personal self-expression…writing. The workshop will focus on many different types of writing and storytelling, including journaling, blogging, poetry, spoken word, short stories, songwriting, myths, word games, and journalism.  There will be discussion of how to write articles on computers. All writers will also be the Staff Reporters for the 3rd annual CAI Newsletter. There will be editorial meetings in which each writer will get an opportunity to pitch story ideas, develop those ideas into interesting articles, work with a professional editor to refine writing, and get their picture in our newsletter.
