Counselor- in-Training Program

The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program provides young teens (12 – 14 years old) the opportunity to develop skills as leaders in a creative and safe environment. The CIT’s are offered a diversity of activities which allow them to expand their abilities and broaden their horizons in preparation to becoming counselors with the Children’s Arts Institute or other camp programs.

Childrens’ Arts Institute Valley Campus

Session I: June 28 – July 23, 2010 (4 weeks) No Camp July 5
Session 2: July 26 – August 20, 2010 (4 weeks)
Hours: 8:00am–3:45pm
Days: Monday–Friday
Requirements
Meetings/Training: Attend a 2 hour training & orientation session approximately 1 week prior to camp.
Daily: Assist in workshops. Help supervise younger campers.
Open Houses: Help set-up and attend our exhibit/performance nights at the end of session.
Cost: This is not a job, but a camp program we offer for junior teens. Parents pay 50% of camp tuition to have their child attend the program.
Daily Schedule
8:00 AM — Arrive at camp
8:00-8:15 AM — Morning jobs
8:15-9:00 AM — Supervise campers, assist around camp
9:00-10:10 AM — Assist in a workshop
10:10-10:35 AM — Snack break
10:30-11:40 AM — Assist in a workshop
11:40-12:40 PM — Lunch, lunch jobs, supervise campers
1:50-2:05 PM — Afternoon Break
2:05-3:15 PM — Assist in a workshop
3:15–3:30 PM — Assist during parent pick-up
3:30-3:45 PM — End of day jobs
There will be one advanced CIT workshop daily– time slot and subject matter to be decided.
